Ayahuasca is a powerful psychoactive brew made from the ayahuasca vine and other plant ingredients. Its ceremonial use belongs to the spiritual and healing traditions of the Amazon Basin.
Accounts of its medicinal and shamanic use reach back thousands of years. In ceremony, altered states of consciousness can open space for insight, emotional processing and spiritual encounter.
People arrive with many intentions, including healing, clarity, personal growth and a deeper relationship with their lives.
The role of the curandero
Guidance through the night.
The curandero plays a central role, guiding participants through the experience and holding the ceremonial space. The work usually takes place at night in a maloca and may include singing, chanting and traditional ritual.
John works with a maximum of six people per ceremony. The small group allows close attention to each participant and to the movement of the room as a whole.

A small group gathers at night in the maloca, held through song, attention and ritual.
Rest
Time after ceremony supports sleep, reflection and the gradual settling of the experience.
Integration
Conversation and grounded support help the experience find a place in everyday life.
Preparing the medicine
Care begins long before ceremony.
The relationship with Ayahuasca includes sourcing, preparing and cooking the plants with patience and attention. That care continues through participant screening, the ceremonial environment and the days that follow.
Ayahuasca carries significant physical and psychological risks when used improperly. Safe practice calls for honest health information, careful screening and the guidance of an experienced practitioner.
